Bags and Accessories

All the bags and accessories are manufactured in the Netherlands. The unique pieces and special orders are custom-made in the Bouwjaar ‘63 studio. Production of the stock lines is by a Dutch company specialized in the manufacture of bags and suitcases of the highest quality. Bouwjaar ‘63 bags and accessories can be rightfully labelled “made in Holland”.

For companies and other organisations, Bouwjaar ‘63 custom design and make special editions, of any size.
Bags by Bouwjaar ‘63 are easily recognisable by their sharp and functional design. Bouwjaar ‘63 make use of various materials:

  • Felt in different colours and thicknesses
Hardwearing, dirt and water repellent  felt is used for the outside: ‘technical felt’ (90% wool) or ‘wool felt’ (100% wool ), whilst the lining is made out of a softer pressing of pure wool felt, in contrasting colours. The use of these fabrics leaves the bags and accessories lightweight.
  • Tarpaulin
Best-known for its use as cargo protection on trucks, tarpaulin is a strong, water and dirt repellent, material. Characterized by a smooth and shiny surface, it perfectly complements the structure of  wool felt.
  • Polyester
A supple and light material that is also dirt and water repellent. This material, in contrast to Tarpaulin, is easily shaped to fit the human body.
  • Lace, feathers and other garnishing
These items are mainly used for the bags for special occasions.  By working with these materials Bouwjaar ‘63 is able to produce custom-made bags. Various combinations of colours and materials can be requested.
  • Cardboard
Used for the “Pimp your bag” (cardboard bag).It is a light and re-usable material, easy to “pimp”. The use of this material puts a Bouwjaar ‘63 bag within everyone’s reach.

Use/maintenance

  • Felt
Because of the robust quality of the felt, it does hardly absorb dirt and water. If the bag does get soaked you can leave it to dry (just as you would a woollen coat). Because it is dirt-repellent it doesn’t easily stain, not even those parts of the bag you regularly touch with your hands.
  • Tarpaulin/Polyester
    Wipe with a damp cloth.
